Project Corpora#
Project corpora are built for targeted research projects conducted by the ZHAW Digital Discourse Lab.
DE Journalistic Delinquency Corpus (2014-2024)#
Built for a bachelor’s thesis investigating how youth delinquency is portrayed in journalistic media in German-speaking Switzerland. The corpus supports a discourse analysis of that coverage over an eleven-year period. The texts were retrieved from swissdox@LiRI and cover eight German-language Swiss outlets: Blick, NZZ, NZZ am Sonntag, Tages-Anzeiger, SonntagsZeitung, Die Weltwoche, WOZ Die Wochenzeitung, and 20 Minuten Online — a mix of daily and weekly titles across four publishers. Articles were retrieved if they contained any of a set of terms for youth delinquency (e.g., Jugenddelinquenz, Jugendkriminalität, Jugendgewalt, Jugendbanden) or a combination of a delinquency term with a term for young people (such as straffällig together with Jugendliche). The full list of search terms is given below.

Corpora on Sepsis discourse#
Four corpora built by the ZHAW Digital Discourse Lab for a discourse analysis of how sepsis is written about. They cover German, French, and Italian, in both journalistic and organizational sources, from 2000 to 2025.
The design of the corpora is contrastive. Sepsis is a condition with comparatively low public visibility, so a corpus of sepsis coverage alone offers little to measure against. These corpora therefore also retrieve texts about other serious conditions — stroke, cancer, heart attack, and infection more generally — so that the way sepsis is discussed can be compared with the way better-known conditions are discussed in the same sources over the same period.
Important
These are not sepsis-only corpora. A large proportion of the documents concern cancer, stroke, or heart attack rather than sepsis.

Corpora on vaccination discourse#
Two corpora built for Monitoring Vaccination Discourse, a project on vaccine hesitancy in German-speaking Switzerland, funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation (grant 220650, 2024–2027).
Both corpora contain documents mentioning vaccination — words built on Impf, Covid, or Corona, and named vaccines and diseases such as HPV, FSME, measles, or influenza. Words that merely contain the letters impf, such as beschimpfen or glimpflich, are excluded.
The query used to build these corpora
Impf="([Ii]mpf|Covid|Corona).*" | ".+impf.*" | "HPV|FSME|Masern|Mumps|Röteln|MMR|Grippe|Influenza" | ("Humane" "Papillomavir.*") | ("humane" "Papillomavir.*") | ".*Meningoenzephalitis" | ".*frisch.*impf.*" expand to text;
Beschimpf="Schimpf.*" | "Beschimpfung.*" | ".*schimpf.*" | "verunglimpf.*" | "glimpflich.*" expand to text;
ImpfOnly = difference Impf Beschimpf;
expand to text returns the whole document rather than the matching sentence.
difference removes every document matched by Beschimpf from those matched by
Impf.
